The Keeper
What a frightful thing, a heart.
It frets and flounders,
Not sure where to go.
As innocent as a child.
What do I do with you?
How does one coddle a child,
To change its ways?
Love it, keep it,
Careful not to smother it.
Give it the time to grow,
To see life in a new light...
For sunshine shall rise out of the night,
And love comes and goes.
Shall you call it your own?
Teach it to call you its keeper?
For surely, it knows you,
Wants to be with you.
I give over its custody to you...
Please, hold it gently and with care.
Show it a world anew,
One to share with you.
